Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, has reiterated that the South-East geo-political zone of the country, has made a Statement with the performance of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Mr Peter Obi in the February 25th polls.
Umahi made the assertion on Monday while addressing a cross section of the Ezza Clan at a Town Hall meeting. The meeting held at the International Airport Onueke near Abakaliki.
The State Chief Executive restated that he was not against the south-east voting for the Labour Party presidential candidate.
According to him,”APC is not against the Labour Party voting for Peter Obi. We are not angry with it, we are not condemning it
“At Least the South-East zone has made a Statement, I am happy with what Peter Obi is doing”
Umahi on the forthcoming election
On the forthcoming March 11th governorship election, Umahi urged the Leaders of Thought/Stakeholders to allow the electorate the freedom to exercise their franchise during the polls.
Umahi enjoined the people of Ezza clan to vote for the All Progressive Congress (APC). Also insisting that it would afford them the opportunity to receive their share of what is due to them.
“If I can allow Dr Kenneth Ugballa the SSG (an Ezza man), the owner of government, who is it that speaks when God has not spoken”
“There should be no fight, anybody that wants to vote for APC should be allowed to do so. While those that desires to vote for APGA Candidate, should be allowed to exercise their franchise”
“Whoever God brings to succeed me can not mess up, I can assure you of that. If the person wants to know about Ebonyi, he can come and ask me,”
Umahi allayed fears that an Izzi man winning the governorship position will result to the forfeiture of people land, property.
“It can not happen, government does not belong to Izzi people, no Izzi man has ever made that Statement, the State is bigger than one clan/person, I am still your son”
On critics of his administration, Umahi emphasized that his government has not done anything wrong.

He announced that the International Airport would be commissioned in April 2023.
