Breaking: Gunmen open fire on an Ebonyi police roadblock
On Thursday, assailants stormed a police roadblock on the Abakaliki-Enugu Highway and set fire to a police patrol van.
According to information our reporter received, the event took place near the Ishieke Junction, which is outside of the city of Abakaliki.
As of the time this article was filed, it was not possible to independently verify the accounts of the gunmen who allegedly killed one policeman and kidnapped another, according to local sources.
The attack was verified by DSP Joshua Ukandu, the public relations officer for the state police.
However, he denied knowing of any police officer being killed or kidnapped, claiming that the scene’s reports were still hazy.
“An incident happened this morning, but I’m still trying to piece the details together,” he stated.
