29 contractors are barred by Ebonyi from working on state projects.

The Ebonyi Government said on Tuesday that it had prohibited 29 contractors from working on projects within the state.

While briefing reporters on the results of the State Executive Council meeting that took place on Monday, Jude Okpor, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, revealed this information.

29 contractors are barred by Ebonyi from working on state projects.

According to Okpor, the contractors in charge of the continuing housing estates at the Izzo and Amaeze autonomous communities in the state’s Ishielu Local Government Area were prohibited from doing business.

The report on the performance of several contractors managing work in the continuing estates for the relocation of the autonomous communities of Izzo and Amaeze was reviewed by the council.

The Commissioner stated, “The council approved the blacklisting of 29 contractors for subpar performance and prohibited them from performing any further work in the state.”

In reference to the Effium and Ezza Effium community dispute in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Okpor stated that in order to restore peace, the council had established a Peace Committee.

He clarified that in order to actualize the Ebonyi Government White Paper on the restoration of permanent peace to the people, the committee would communicate with the previously established Implementation Committee and relevant line ministries.

He mentioned Senator Sonni Ogbuoji as a member, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali as the secretary, and Amb. Frank Ogbuewu as the chairman of the committee.

In addition, all current members of the Implementation Committee as well as officials from the ministries of lands and survey, housing, works, and transportation are included.
