
The governor of Ebonyi raises the retirement age for teachers to 65.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the governor stated that a key focus of his government would be education in a number of forums.

The term of service for teachers in the state has been increased from 35 to 40 years, while the retirement age has been raised from 60 to 65 years by Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru.
The information was revealed in a statement that Chief Monday Nkwuda, the permanent secretary of the state ministry of education, signed and gave to reporters on Friday in Abakaliki.
Teachers who retired in May 2023 were covered by the extension, according to the permanent secretary.
In the announcement, Nkwuda advised government-employed teachers who were about to retire on May 9, 2023, to be aware of the change.
The statement said, “They should go to the state ministry of Finance and Economic Development, central payroll, for recapturing and updating.”
