Anambra police arrest man enforcing sit-at-home, recover arms

A suspect who was imposing a “illegal” sit-at-home at the Oba flyover in the state’s Idemili South Local Government Area has been detained, according to the Anambra State Police Command.

According to a statement released on Thursday by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesman for the state police, the suspect was part of a group of four armed men who were gathering to carry out the sit-at-home that the Indigenous People of Biafra had declared on May 30.

Ikenga said the suspect was taken into custody after receiving information that armed men on motorcycles were gathering to implement the sit-at-home policy in the region.

He stated that the three remaining gang members were shot and managed to flee, but the police officers who had been dispatched to the scene apprehended and disarmed the gang members.

According to preliminary reports, the armed men were gathering to carry out tomorrow, May 30, 2024,’s illegal sit-at-home. The three armed individuals who fled the scene are being pursued by the operatives in the meantime.

The command, meanwhile, has issued a warning to everyone not to spread dangerous sit-at-home content because it may lead to a breach of peace.

The military responded through a spokeswoman that it is fully aware of these secessionist efforts and that law-abiding individuals should ignore such propaganda.

The leadership said, “Relax, every state citizen is safe and secure because the Police and other security agencies have mobilized law enforcement resources to do so.”

In observance of Biafra Heroes Day, which honors those who lost their lives in the Civil War, the Indigenous People of Biafra have ordered a sit-at-home policy for today, May 30.
