He was a director of several banks, including the famous but defunct African Continental Bank (ACB) Limited and later Progress Bank Limited and Hallmark Bank Limited. He was also the Managing Director, J.R. Anyaehie and Co Ltd, Chairman/Chief Executive, Anyaehie Foundation Co. (Nig) Ltd., Chairman, Metcome Nigeria Limited, Managing Director, Richards Industries Limited and Chairman/Managing Director ADP (Nig) Limited.
He was a renowned Philanthropist and Industrialist who recorded in the passage of time to be one of the richest men in West Africa in the early 80s till his demise in 2014.
The Lord Mayor of Nkwerre was a title conferred on him by Queen Elizabeth.
He carried out a number of charitable deeds through the Anyaehie Foundation, including awarding scholarships and making grants to underprivileged people. Sir Anyaehie constructed the stunning Saint Peter and Paul Anglican Cathedral, Nkwerre, by himself in the year 2000, at an estimated cost of more than N5 billion. Additionally, he gave substantial sums to the Catholic Church and Pentecostal churches around the state, among others.
In 2013,he doled the sum for N3billion for philanthropy.
In 2014,Anyaehie surprised his children by dispersing about N5 billion in cash to people, churches, orphanages, youth organizations, widows, Imo state government etc.
His children spent over a week in compiling the list of recipients while keeping a careful eye on their ailing father.
He built a mausoleum in his rural Nkwerre property toward the end of last year,
which was estimated to cost about N30 million.
He raised numerous millionaires and billionaires in Nkwerre.
His legacy continues to radiate in Nkwerre,his hometown.
The late business mogul, was a Knight of St. Christopher, holds the traditional titles of Omehereuzo 1 of Orlu, Agbawodike Izu 1 of Nkwerre, Chubuzor 1 of Mbieri and Utuagbaigwe 1 of Mbaise.
He lived a fulfilled life and passed on at the age of 91.
