Anambra generates N3bn Monthly
The governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, revealed on Sunday that the state’s internal revenue has grown from N1.5 billion to almost N3 billion every month.

Speaking on Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” the outgoing governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria evaluated his management during the previous two years.
Anambra, a commercial hub in the South East, has the potential to produce around N10 billion a month, according to Soludo, who also stated that his government expects to generate more than N4 billion by the end of the year.
He said that in order to give “the poor” room to breathe, he ordered that low-wage workers, hawkers, and small-time traders like barrow pushers be free from taxes and levies.
“When we came, we were doing N1.4 billion to N1.5 billion a month in terms of IGR,” he stated.
We are now approaching somewhat less than N3 billion. We don’t want to be there. Anambra has the potential to get up to N10 billion each month, and our goal this year is to surpass N4 billion. On some processes, we take our time.
For instance, in order to allow the impoverished to not only breathe but also walk and run, we removed taxes and levies on small business owners, hawkers, individuals with less than N100,000 in capital, truck and barrow drivers, and others.
“In our opinion, we are giving them access to free basic education by placing money in their pockets. That puts money back into people’s pockets. In all public hospitals, prenatal care, deliveries, and cesarean sections are free. You must listen to people’s testimonies.
“Currently, 42,079 women in Anambra receive free prenatal care in various forms, and thousands of births occur in public hospitals each month with no maternal death. Each of these is intended to put money in people’s pockets.
This government is most likely the first to increase employment directly in the state. About anyone else, I have no idea. Regarding our human resources, social agenda, health, and education, in the first nine months since taking office, we have personally hired 5,000 instructors since excellent teachers are essential to every school. And we have another 3,000 being processed. In all the medical institutions around the state, we have over a thousand health workers and professionals working for us.
Then, naturally, there are more than 2,000 of them in the security domain. Therefore, you may be talking about much over 11,000 in terms of direct employment. Regarding employment, the government serves as the facilitator. Given the current state of affairs in the nation, there are very few places where you can have that many direct employment opportunities—I’ll tell you the numbers.
