
Engr. Chinedum Elekwachi, the chairman of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) in Ebonyi State, has praised the governor, Rt Hon Ogbonna Nwifuru, for instituting induction training for newly appointed members of his cabinet.
The chairman argued that capacity training is necessary so that the appointees may quickly find their feet on the policy direction of the administration, and described the training as evidence that the governor is in line with modern realities on issues of governance.
He emphasised the need for regular training sessions, so that the new hires would remain accessible over time.
To ensure the state’s economic viability, I believe it is imperative that the state establish an Economic Advisory Team to provide counsel on appropriate economic policy. I have advocated for this in a variety of settings, and I will continue to do so since the state is falling behind in productivity.
How can a state develop along these lines, since it has no manufacturing or production companies to brag about? He inquired.
To combat investors’ apprehension and lack of familiarity with the state, the economic team of experts will develop strategies to entice them to set up shop there. All the smart people in this state seek is official acknowledgment of their abilities.
The state’s physical infrastructure is something we can use to the state’s advantage in the quest to become an industrial powerhouse in Nigeria’s southeast.
We need to catch up to our neighbouring states, which are making more progress economically than we are, and I urge the governor to listen to this voice of reason.
