
For murdering an Abia businessman, a corporal was detained.
A police corporal named Obagi Njok has been taken into custody by the Abia State Police Command for fatally shooting Emmanuel Okocha, a businessman who was born in Abia.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in Aba Abia, the state’s commercial center, a policeman shot Okocha after he reportedly refused to pay Njok money at a checkpoint.
Njok was assigned to the Abayi Police Division prior to the event, according to a statement made on Saturday by ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer.
The leadership stated the occurrence was regretful but added that the corporal had been captured and that the appropriate disciplinary actions had been started.
“The appropriate course of appropriate administrative and legal consequences will be followed, and appropriate disciplinary actions and sanctions will be implemented as soon as possible,” it continued. Stakeholders and members of the bereaved family will be kept updated on this front as the procedures develop.
“The incident is unfortunate and regrettable, as stated without hesitation by the Abia State Police Command.”
