Christians in Abia rejoice on Israel’s 76th and ask for peace.

As they prayed for peace in the area, Christians in Abia State commemorated Israel’s 76 years of independence.

They include orthodox churches that are governed by the Pentecostal Federation of Nigeria and the Christian Association of Nigeria, and they operate under the direction of the Christian United for Israel Prayer Outreach branch in Abia State.

Prayers were said for God to continue to guide his people, the state of Israel, which was established on May 14, 1948, after a six-day battle under the command of the one-eyed General Moshe Dayan.

CUFI’s 2024 state coordinator, Rev. Dr. Chris Nwachukwu, received a letter from the state of Israel through Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Michael Freeman, who made a brief statement during the event. “It is my honor and pleasure to celebrate with you today and to express my gratitude to the management, and all involved with the Christian United For Israel Prayer Outreach and the incredible young people who have come together from different parts of the country to celebrate Israel at 76,” Freeman said.

We commemorate and celebrate our 76th Independence Day this year, but our hearts remain heavy for the 1200 Israelis and others who were ruthlessly killed on October 7 by Hamas.

And 132 Israelis and other citizens are still detained by Hamas in their terror dens in Gaza as of right now. We must demand their release together and hope they return safely.

Israel is still a thriving democracy with a diversified population, a leader in technology and agriculture, business and creativity, and the advancement of humankind. We will keep working to create a brighter future for our children and grandkids, as well as for ourselves, alongside our friends and collaborators in Nigeria.

“Am Y Israel Chai – The Israelites are alive.”

The CUFI 2024 state coordinator, Rev. Dr. Nwachukwu, stated in his introductory speech that as of just now, many people had been displaced and the country was divided into three pieces. He urged prayers for Israel as well as for the unity of Christians and churches.

He explained that the large golden dome in the area represents Islam, which makes up the majority of Israel. He also mentioned that Jews and Muslims make up 76% of Israel and that Palestine wants to take over Gaza so that the Christians would not be in charge of the territory.

Bishop Chikezie Elekwa, the state chairman of the PFN, cautioned the group, describing God as a “convent-keeping God” and pointing out that Israel had experienced many hardships, including being held captive and being sold into slavery. They had no notion that they would resurface alive; they were dead, desiccated, and strewn all over the place. Israel is a powerful nation that is unbeatable today and stands as such.

In the words of his Senior Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Apostle K. C. Wiper, on behalf of the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti said that Abia State is the capital of Nigeria, much as Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, and that Israel is the firstborn nation.

Using the occasion, Right Rev. Ikechukwu Nkulo, the Bishop of Umuahia East Diocese, on behalf of Archbishop Chibuzo Raphael Opoko of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Umuahia Archdiocese, advised the state government to establish and strengthen its pilgrims’ board.
