Think-Home Policy is a welcomed Initiative

Think-Home Policy Initiative is a welcome development any genuine Igbo man should embrace. The initiative is an apt and captured the vision of lgbo Race. After all said and done, we suggest that Igbos having suffered grave inhumanity in the hands of all Government – Federal and States, if there’s wisdom shall no longer be reminded of urgent need to embrace the ‘Think-Home Policy Initiative’.

We make bold to say that over 90% of Igbos especially in Nigeria space are ever willing and ready to Think-Home, Invest-Home and Develop Igbo-Land having suffered grave indignity, looses, humiliation, deaths, hostility and arrant discrimination meted to them by their host communities for no fault of theirs.

The unprovoked hostilities which at times culminate to genocidal pogrom against Igbos are popular with the Governments of those States especially the Fulani Oligarchy.

We all witnessed the wanton destruction of Property of Igbos in Lagos State by the Sanwolu led APC Government and President never said anything to stop the anomaly and pay compensation to those affected. The Presidency by not showing any form of disapproval connotes connivance, aiding and abetting, hence complicit in such heinous crimes by Sanwolu Government.

Whatsoever reasons concocted for their action was ignoble and unacceptable to the generality of Nigerians.
Most importantly is that the leadership and elites of Yoruba Nation condemned that his cruelty and regarded it a national disgrace and abominable, what an elected governor, in a Democratic setting as of now. To them , it was Odious , Opprobrious and Despicable.

Worst of all is that life earnings accumulated over decades and hopes of the Igbos who saw Lagos as a home of halcyon were destroyed and shattered in a twinkle of an eye.
The demolitions were selective as only property of Igbos were involved not minding that the owners bought them rightly from the actual owners, obtained C- of-O or Consent letter whichever was applicable from the Government of Lagos State. The building plans were approved by the Government Authority in charge and all dues paid. With these , the Landlords were adequately equipped but were only told the Order from above supercedes the genuine documents.
The demolitions were accompanied with pre arrangements for massive looting to ensure the owners salvaged nothing.
The hatred exhibited by the Lagos State Governor Sanwolu was without notice and done in such a wicked manner that nothing could be salvaged by the people in their home.

The destruction of the residences , markets and business premises of Igbos was carried out at Night when the people were at their native home towns revelling with their kiths and kins during yuletide and other festivities. Many are rendered homeless, lost their businesses , life earnings and rendered helpless and hopeless.Ironically that was done against them in the State they invested homogeneously to develop to the stage it is today. Over 60% percentage of the Revenue of the State are Igbo derived. Same had happened in the North over the years that culminated to ,1966 Pogrom , the Civil War in which Nigeria and Biafra lost over 4 million lives estimated. Not far fetched but may be hidden is the main reason for this outrageous dastardly treatment of Igbos, particularly in Lagos was that President Tinubu as the Presidential Candidate of APC lost deposit in Lagos State he considered his fort on the February 23-2023 Presidential Election. He lost to LP flag bearer Mr Peter Obi. He forgot Mr Peter Obi was overwhelmingly voted by all Nigerians in Lagos State, the people of the Country having suffered untold hardship , insecurities, carnages ,hunger and abject poverty among other unimaginable sufferings under APC Government for over ,one decade. Hence they needed and wanted a change for good and voted for a change. With only 45% voting power of Igbos in Lagos, Igbos alone couldn’t have given Labor Party the Victory and APC Defeat if the balance of 55% had voted APC. Another reason though unsubstantiated but verifiable is the belief among APC that the Governorship Candidates of Labour Party could sweep the State especially as the mother of the Gubernatorial candidate is of Igbo origin so a bandwagon effect couldn’t be ruled out.

In view of this, during the Gubernatorial election, thugs and hooligans led by chief Agbero of the State Mr Olumo were hired by Governor Sanwolu and APC disrupt the election in favor of APC . Those hirelings unleashed mayhem on would be voters who turned up to vote and prevented others from voting. We are not in a position to say who won the Guber Election of the State but probably might not be APC in the Gubernatorial election and also the majority in the State House of Assembly.

Be that what may, the people would still vote according to their conscience come 2027. It would be preposterous for anyone to start to claim his Party would win the 2027 election as Nigeria conceives evil, pregnant with tragedy and would give birth to disillusionment before then. If any Party candidates have Igbo connection that doesn’t disqualify them from contesting and winning. Moreso, Igbos votes on the basis of credibility of candidates not party or sentiment.

Now having taken aside, let us say few things. The Igbo man values his hard earned wealth but not anyway near the values they attached to life.
To average Igbo man he owns what he earned and believe that he can replace same and more and is only a question of life and time to achieve more. But one thing is that the Governors and top Government officials in the Southeast move around with melange of different security operatives to protect themselves and families while their peoples are on the basis of everyone on his own and God for us all.Let them show examples by moving without fortified security network. That there are insecurities in the Southeast is a reality.

That the Governments are paying lips services to it is a reality. That their efforts so far in combating insecurities and palliatives in nature are smacks of their underestimation of the level of insecurities in their respective domain .

This also is a reality. They were attempting to treat the symptoms instead of the causes. See what is happening in the Northern Nigeria and unprecedented daily death toll resulting from the actions of the gangsters terrorism. No one ordinarily would like such environment for habitation and business venture.

Another issue is Electric Power supply . See what a feat Oti of Abia State singularly achieved in his State .Once the Governments of Southeast become resolute and effectively synergize efforts and concentrate their resources, they can build a Modular Refinery and Reactivate Oji Power Station therefore assure uninterrupted POWER Supply of electricity , Igbos in diaspora and at large in other parts of the country would voluntarily and happily Think-Home, Invest-Home and Develop Igbo-Land

In conclusion.
Igbos have suffered untold atrocities in form of marginalization, inequalities, genocidal pogrom, wanton destruction of their properties and businesses, unprovoked intimidation , attacks, unlawful harassment and detention against the rule of law and wilful and flagrant disobedience of Court Orders, once Igbos are involved . See the case f Nnamdi Kanu is a typical living example. This happens all over the Country, especially and particularly by Governor Sanwolu of Lagos State.

The insecurities in the Southeast and regular unprecedented Power Outages and Government menaces are among the major deterrence that militates against the Think Home Policy Initiative formally as “Think-Home Philosophy” espoused firstly by legendary Statesman Late Chukwuemeka Ezeife, (Okwadike Ndigbo).

Once all the above irregularities confronting the Zone and negatively affecting Southeast Zone are resolved, in less than a year more than 50% of Igbos would Think- home, Invest-Home and Develop Igbo-Land (Home is where the hearts lives)

May, Think -HOME Policy Initiative, never die in our memories and actions
