The Governor of Abia Names New Members of the Judicial Service Commission

In a press release on Wednesday, Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti announced the names of the Abia State Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

In a press release to the governor, Kazie Uko, the chief press secretary, Governor Otti nominated the following people to be on the Commission, pending approval by the Abia State House of Assembly:

Mr. Chibuzo Irobi – Member
Mr. Finecountry Iyioku – Member
Prof. Chukwu Udensi – Member
Engr. Moses Ogbonna – Member

The governor of Abia State appoints the Chief Judge, who leads the state’s court system, based on the National Judicial Council’s proposal and is subject to confirmation by the state parliament.

While the Chief Judge works with the State Judicial Service Commission to appoint magistrates and judges of customary court, the appointment of judges follows a similar process.
