The governor of Abia State appoints the Chief Judge, who leads the state’s court system, based on the National Judicial Council’s proposal and is subject to confirmation by the state parliament.
While the Chief Judge works with the State Judicial Service Commission to appoint magistrates and judges of customary court, the appointment of judges follows a similar process.
