Plans by Abia to bring back industrial layout
The government of Abia State plans to create more industrial layouts around the state in addition to revitalizing the Osisioma Industrial Layout in Aba.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, Okey Kanu, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, revealed this. Governor Alex Otti chaired this week’s State Executive Council meeting in Umuahia on Monday.

The proposals, according to the commissioner, are compliant with the state’s administration led by Otti’s overarching vision for economic growth.
Kanu stated that the infrastructure required to enable investors to establish themselves in certain industrial layouts will be supplied by the state government.
He went on to say that having these amenities available would make conducting business in certain layouts hassle-free and obstacle-free.
“The state government’s primary goal is to establish Aba as a commercial center and the state of Abia as a safe haven for investors,” he stated.
“Thus, the state government’s provision of road infrastructure, security, and power, similar to what we have in Geometrics, along with the ease of conducting business improvements, all contribute to making Abia state an attractive destination for investors.”
He said that the administration will vigorously pursue this proposal in the upcoming weeks and months to guarantee that the plans are implemented.
Kanu also declared that the Harmonized Task Force, which was recently established to address touting, extortion, and harassment of the state’s people and residents, will begin its formal activities by the Abia State government.
He said that the event will happen in Aba and Umuahia on Tuesday at the same time.
“Today, Tuesday, April 9, all members of the Harmonized TaskForce, including the Magistrates, Area and Zonal coordinators, and all participating operatives, are expected to fully participate in the exercise,” he stated. “The focus will be on Umuahia and Aba.”
The information chief revealed the Abia State government’s intentions to transform Umuahia into a smart city. He said that the administration will shortly begin to implement its plans to rehabilitate and enhance the state capital’s Isigate neighborhood and transform it into a smart city.
“The government will remove its ideas off the drafting board in the upcoming months, albeit they have been there for a long. According to him, a group has been working on measures to improve the appearance of that area of the state capital throughout the years.
During the press conference, the commissioner was accompanied by Mr. Chaka Chukwumerije, Commissioner for Land and Housing, and Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, Special Advisor to the Governor on Media and Publicity.
