Man in Abia village raises the alarm about land creating that causes erosion
Mr. Chidiebere Odum, an Abia State native who lives in Umuoieghe, Amuzukwu in the Umuahia North Local Government region, has urged the state government to intervene and halt any land clearance that would result in erosion in the region.

Man in Abia village raises the alarm about land creating that causes erosion
While guiding a group of media around the property where his building was located, Odum accused Mr. Okechukwu Ndukwe, the developer, of tearing down a portion of his fence and warned that if the land clearance continued, his house may fall.
He said that the palm and bamboo trees that had been planted in the “erosion prone area” had both been demolished. He expressed concern about what would happen to the area when the rain starts to fall.
“This place was bulldozed, even the back of my house was bulldozed, as per Mr. Okechukwu Ndukwe’s orders,” he declared. Erosion is a risk in Umuoieghe Amuzukwu, and if the Abia State government does not intervene now to prevent him, this would occur when the rainy season arrives. Everything has been taken out of the area, even the palm and bamboo trees.
In response to the accusations, Ndukwe—a former general manager of ABSEDA, the Abia State Estate Development Agency—questioned Odum’s motivation for impeding the development of his nearby property.
Contrary to what he said, he stated, the work he is undertaking on his land is intended to bring about infrastructure development and is never a danger to Odum’s home.
Ndukwe noted that certain elements were being taken into consideration to guarantee that the region remained secure from erosion, despite his insistence that his focus was on developing the area, which he said was not prone to erosion.
