The Abia government is harsh on drug dealers and criminals

Deputy Governor of Abia State, Mr. Ikwuka Emetu made the statement on Thursday during a news conference to announce the results of a joint sting operation conducted by Abia State’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the NDLEA (Drug Law Enforcement Agency). The sting operation was carried out in the Umuahie area of the state.

According to Emetu, the administration would not tolerate any kind of criminal activity in the state and was committed to transforming Abia through its reconstruction strategy.
He declared that narcotics are the foundation of all criminal activity and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating all forms of criminality.

He went on to say that Abia will never be a refuge for criminals and issued a warning to all drug dealers and other lawbreakers in the state to leave the area or risk being detained and prosecuted.

“Abia is not a safe haven for any criminal, and Governor Alex Otti has made it very clear to all drug kingpins that they should avoid the area—we don’t need you.

“Drugs cannot improve Abia; we want our kids to be safe and extremely valuable to the Abia government. You are not a part of the state’s growth.

According to Emetu, “drugs are the foundation of all criminal activity that can be committed by any group of people.”

He declared that the current government would not back down and was ready to construct a state free of crime for the people.

He congratulated the NDLEA and Abia Homeland Security on the accomplishment of their cooperative operation, which resulted in the seizure of the hard drugs discovered in the possession of some drug dealers and their arrest.

A significant amount of illegal substances were discovered in Miss Adaobi Nweke’s Umuahia home, leading to her arrest through a combined operation, according to Mr. Chukwunenye Alajemba, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security.
