PanAfricare and Abia work together to combat malaria.

The Impact Malaria Pilot awareness campaign has been launched by the Abia State government and the PanAfricare Consortium in Okpualangwa, the state’s headquarters for the Isialangwa North Local Government Area.

The mayor of Isialangwa North Local Government Area, Sir Cyprian Y. Nwankwo, spoke during the program’s launch and reaffirmed his commitment to lowering the prevalence of malaria in his community. He called the outreach program “a crucial step towards eliminating the disease by providing preventive and curative measures to those who need it most.”

“I believe that with our collective efforts, we can make a significant impact in reducing the prevalence of malaria in our communities,” the mayor, who was represented by his deputy, Uchenna Nwabuko, said, praising the state government for starting the program and working with his local council to make it a reality.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our communities are healthy and we will not relent until we have eradicated malaria from our locality,” he continued, reiterating his commitment to provide his people with high-quality healthcare.

Speaking on behalf of Dr. Ifeyinwa Blossom, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health The program will provide malaria treatment and prevention in the 292 healthcare centers in the state, according to Uma Kalu, the Project Coordinator for the Malaria Impact Project at the Abia State Ministry of Health, Arua Obasi Ude. He also thanked the state government for securing a World Bank loan for the project.

He gave his word that the state government will work with the World Bank and the PanAfricare Consortium to advance the project.

Dr. Mrs. Catherine Uchechi J. Nwachukwu, the secretary of the Isialangwa North Health Authority, expressed gratitude to the project partners by saying, “Malaria not only poses a threat to individuals but also carries profound implications for our society as a whole.”

“Every person has a crucial part to play in our group’s effort to fight malaria. Just lying beneath mosquito-treated nets can dramatically lower the chance of malaria spreading.

We work to empower our communities in the battle against malaria via numerous outreach programs and projects like our Impact Project, which aims to offer mosquito-treated nets and vital malaria drugs.”

According to Dr. Patrick Adah, Country Director of Panafricare, Abia is one of the states in Nigeria where the project is being carried out. Abia has partnered with PanAfrica and the World Bank to combat malaria, reduce its impact, and eventually eradicate it from the state.

According to him, the state of Abia will receive over 500,000 mosquito-treated nets, over 1.5 million ACT medications, and Rapid Diagnostic Tests kits for the treatment of malaria as well as other malaria-related treatments as part of the malaria fight strategy.

Dr. Okechukwu Madukwe, the project director and state team lead, said that the project is being launched in Isialangwa North for the state, guaranteeing its success.

Ola Kanu, a nursing mother, and Chinyere Uche, an expectant mother, were among the beneficiaries who expressed gratitude to the state government for the project and guaranteed that the supplies they received would be used appropriately.

Several of the goods were evaluated and included malaria medications, regular medications, and mosquito-treated nets.

Malaria Focal Person of Isialangwa North Local Government Area, Mrs. Gold Uchechi Anumadu, gave health talks on the occasion on malaria and personal, environmental, and food cleanliness.

Attending the event were health secretaries from Abia State’s local government areas of Aba South, Umuahia South, Ukwa West, and Isuikwuato.
