“I will support OMPAN; we are pushing Umuahia North to be independent of JAAC.”- Umuahia North Mayor

Honorable High Chief Victor Ikeji, the mayor of Umuahia North Local Government Area, revealed that his administration was making great efforts to encourage the Council to become independent of the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) by revitalizing the agriculture sector.
He also pledged to support the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), stating that government depends on the media to perform its functions as best it can.
Ikeji revealed this information during a courtesy visit from a select group of Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) members to his office at Umuahia North Council Headquarters. He said that the Council would reach a stage under his leadership where they would be able to generate funds from the agriculture sector and not need the support of the Federal or State Governments in order to operate.

He went on to say that plans were in the works to grade Uloma Farm Settlement to make it highly accessible and that he had foreign partners who were eager to work in concert with the Council to realize his goal.
Upon taking office as Mayor, High Chief Ikeji declared that he was aware of the previous perception of the State and was therefore resolved to alter the narratives around administration by initiating numerous revolutionary projects.
Ikeji, who identified himself as a person who gets along well with the media, promised that his government would keep working with and interacting with them in the information and communication sphere.
He listed some of his accomplishments since taking office, such as the Council’s restoration of water and electricity, the grading and refilling of approximately 27 roads in Umuahia North’s hinterland using approximately 200 trips of sand, the desilting of drainages and the evacuation of more than 200 trucks of sand, the training of approximately 36 youths in ICT and artificial intelligence, the revival of the agricultural sector, the relocation of transport parks to more conducive locations, the installation of street lights in Okigwe Park, the construction of public convenience buildings for residents of Okigwe Park, and the launching of a 120-youth skill acquisition program for both indigenous people and Umuahia North residents.
He promised that the program would empower participants after the training, particularly those who would take the training seriously.
He declared, “I plan to completely renovate Umuahia North, and I’ve already started designing it. There will be a significant change for the Council. I promise that under my direction, there will be a significant improvement.
We have enough money to complete projects, and the governor is willing to work with us.
“The governor has gone so far as to dare us to propose massive projects that he will finance.
“The Governor is not in arrears; any civil servant claiming otherwise is deceiving,” he declared.
