Army investigates employees’ involvement in the hotel manager’s death in Abia
The murder of a hotel manager in Abia State, Achimugu Etubi, has prompted a thorough investigation by Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff.

Etubi was allegedly subjected to severe torture by certain Nigerian Arm members, which ultimately led to his demise.
This came about following reports that Emmanuel Onyemereche, a cadet in the Nigerian Air Force, had drowned in the hotel’s pool.
Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, issued a statement on behalf of the Army on Sunday, expressing concern over the accusations made against its soldiers in the media.
In order to determine the circumstances underlying Etubi’s death, he said, the Chief of Army Staff launched an investigation into the occurrence.
The Nigerian Army expressed its great worry over the reports in the online media regarding the alleged unprofessional behavior of some of its members in the tragic death of a hotel manager in Umuahia, Abia State.
“The Chief of Arm Staff has swiftly ordered a thorough investigation to gather the facts and hold anyone found responsible accountable in response to this regrettable incident.”
Onyema assured the families of the deceased that justice will be done in this case while expressing her sympathies.
“The NA assures the public that every effort will be made to ensure that justice is served and sends its sincere condolences to the families of the Nigerian Air Force Officer Cadet Emmanuel Onyemereche and the dead manager, Achimugu Etubi.
Because the Army is dedicated to maintaining the greatest levels of professionalism and discipline, any personnel found to have engaged in improper behavior will be subject to the necessary legal repercussions.
“The Nigerian Arm will keep the public updated on the investigation, and we are steadfast in our pursuit of justice and the truth.”
