President-General claims that Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo has no faction.
Contrary to rumors in certain places, the supreme Igbo sociocultural organization Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Worldwide has said that there isn’t a split inside the organization.

This comes after the organization said that it has started modernizing the Igbo Apprenticeship System, which has assisted the people in achieving economic empowerment.
Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the president-general of Ohanaeze-Ndigbo Worldwide, made this announcement on Sunday in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
According to Iwuanyanwu, individuals vying for the organization’s president and secretary positions are only seeking financial gain for themselves.
He said that in 2023, in the state of Enugu, he was unanimously elected to the position of President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
“There is no faction,” he declared. I, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu, am the President General, chosen by unanimous vote of all citizens.
“Everyone gave one individual their backing the first time. That includes all of us, including the five South East governors.
“There are now those who wish to make money and who profit from this faction.”
Iwuanyanwu made the observation that the apprenticeship system needs to be reviewed because modernity is now challenging it.
He noted that under his leadership, Ohanaeze established a business committee led by Sam Ohuabunwa, whose job it is to examine it, make any updates, and use it going forward to further empower the people.
“This apprenticeship system is very indigenous to Nigeria,” stated Iwuanyanwu. In other words, when an Igbo guy starts a business, he appoints three or four individuals who may be related to him to collaborate with them.
“He provides them with food, shelter, and clothing, but he refuses to give them a salary. He will settle them at the conclusion of their sentences; this is known as Idu ulo.
He is going to give them money—that is, the total amount of money that they ought to have received in compensation. That individual will now launch his own company and hire a new group of apprentices.
It exhibits a geometric development in a little amount of time. That explains the great prosperity of the Igbo people.
He went on, “In Nigeria today, the Igbo people’s inventiveness is gauged by the dominant positions they have in business throughout the country.
The system is no longer as effective as it once was. Over time, things have evolved. Please take note that it is an outdated building that needs to be updated. Ohanaeze will figure out how to update it.
“Ohanaeze has appointed Sam Ohuabunwa as head of the committee on business. They have an obligation to find a way to update it. Although the substance was rudimentary, it accomplished its goal. However, the Ohuabunwa committee can now find a modernized way to enable it to function.
Regarding the defense of Igbo interests, Iwuanyanwu said that the group would support any Igbo taking part in illegal activity and would keep up its defense of Igbo interests worldwide.
