The battle has been intensified against Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state, in the build-up on who becomes a minister from the state.
It was gathered on Wednesday in Owerri, that several nocturnal meetings were still ongoing both in the state and outside Imo state.

Governor Imo State
The latest meeting was said to have been held in Awka, Anambra state, involving a former governor from Okigwe zone in Imo state, and an Ex-Senator from Anambra state, including a commissioner from Okigwe zone who served between 2007 and 2011.
Part of the agreement reached at the Anambra meeting was to have a technical team, write a petition to the Secretary General of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, the aim was to allege that Uzodimma, was blocking the former governor’s opportunity of becoming a senator.
A source close to the former governor, who was at the Anambra meeting, spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity, he narrated the ups and downs, the politicking surrounding the ministerial slot as it affects the Okigwe zone battle of who becomes the minister.
According to him, “The former Imo governor and his gang are not fair to the incumbent governor. In the first term of the Uzodimma administration, the Okigwe zone produced speakers of the state assembly, the Okigwe zone also produced the current Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
“The Governor Uzodimma’s hands are tied in supporting the former governor to be a minister because somebody from the zone has also been appointed the Special Adviser to the President on Commerce, Trade and Industry, and as such, the former governor does not have a legitimate claim to the ministerial slot.

“The former governor’s dream to become a senator for his zone was scuttled by the leaders of his zone who vehemently opposed him because they neither liked him nor trust him. The former governor knows those who scuttled his political ambition, adding that those powerful forces in his zone are still there to scuttle other ambitions he may have.”
“He should bridle his ambition, show gratitude to the incumbent governor and, see the need for real fence-mending with his people, part of the defense-mending be that he should forfeit future political ambitions, including the ministerial ambition because his people feel betrayed by his previous outing and seem not to trust him,” he said.
