Recently, a glimmer of optimism emerged with the promise of government intervention to mitigate the lingering impact of economic hardship.

Residents of the five South-East States of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo have waited interminably since the Federal Government’s announcement of the provision of N5 billion to each state of the federation for the procurement of relief items to poor citizens to cushion the effects of the economic hardship caused by the removal of the fuel subsidy.

However, in the majority of states, particularly the South-East, the people have not received any palliatives, and no one knows if or when they will.
