Enugu TRC chair: “I’ll enjoin Ndigbo to repatriate their wealth home.”
His Majesty, Igwe Ikechukwu Asadu, the recently appointed Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, has promised to support Ndigbo, both in Nigeria and abroad, to return to their wealthy homeland for the advancement of the South East.

The traditional leader of the Edem Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, Igwe Asadu, continued by saying he would support Governor Peter Mbah’s economic revitalization plan in order to significantly boost the state’s and the South East’s overall economies.
He made the call on Friday at his rural residence during a valiant welcome by his followers after Governor Mbah had appointed him to the position of Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council on Thursday.
He urged the state’s traditional rulers for support and promised to prioritize their wellbeing, all the while thanking the governor for thinking of him worthy of the assignment.
“I am thrilled to have been named Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council by His Excellency, Barr. Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State. For me, this appointment is very important. It indicates that democracy’s benefits are felt worldwide and that the administration is impartial and humane.
“Edem Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom, my community, has been represented, and I am especially pleased that the governor of Enugu State is giving the youth more influence.
“I will implement constructive reforms to the Enugu State traditional ruler institution. The Governor is thoughtful, astute, and intentional. I adore his manifesto, which I read. I’ll put some key into it. I have experience working both domestically and overseas. I spent 28 years working as a public servant in the states of Anambra and Enugu before going overseas to pursue my nursing career. I will support his vision for economic development and persuade individuals to invest in Enugu State from both domestic and foreign sources.
“Change is coming, so I urge the state’s traditional leaders to be receptive to it. The royal father declared, “I’m going to add value and substance to the state’s traditional ruler institution.”
The traditional ruler of the Iggah Ancient Kingdom in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, HRH Igwe Herbert Ukuta, told reporters during the press conference that Igwe Asadu’s appointment was well-deserved given his history of human empowerment and philanthropy.

In response to the news, Edem Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom’s Acting Town Union President, Grace Onyishi, stated that the community is ecstatic about the Igwe’s appointment. She urged the state’s other traditional leaders to follow in Igwe Asadu’s footsteps, saying he “puts his community first in everything he does.”
