Anambra Cult Clash: Three people feared dead during a cult fight in Anambra.
The capital of Anambra State, Awka, saw a suspected conflict between competing cult groups on Sunday that resulted in the death of at least three people.

It was learned via locals and bystanders that one of the attacks happened while vendors were present at the Eke Awka market, despite the fact that exact casualty numbers were still unknown.
Two tricycles were reportedly racing each other hysterically along Ziks Avenue in Eke Awka before one of them became trapped, according to local reports.
According to one of the sources, “A few boys got off the tricycle, started walking after themselves, and started shooting.”
They were chasing after one another. One child got off the front trike and began running as it became stalled in traffic at the Eke Awka market.
He was trailed by two lads who had hopped down from the trike behind them. Running up Ziks Avenue into the Parker area, he turned right onto a driveway that led to a mechanic’s workshop.
“The boys shot him dead after dragging him outside after pursuing him into the building. Pandemonium ensued from the tragedy, with people frantically rushing in all directions. I had no idea that I could run that quickly.
A comparable tragedy occurred on Easter Sunday of last year, when there were apparently six fatalities in the neighborhood.
However, the police have stated that they are unaware of any killings.
The Anambra State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that no such information existed prior to the command when he was contacted about the development.
It was learned that the battle for control over money received from tricycle and shuttle bus operators through tickets, emblems, and other items is what’s causing the increasing cult conflicts that have been a recurrent theme.
The increasing number of cult conflicts in the area has alarmed both locals and security personnel.
CP Aderemi Adeoye, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, voiced concern about the incident on Thursday during a conversation with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Anambra State chapter.
“Could you imagine that the cultists we arrested, charged to court, and got remanded in prison custody, that some powerful locals are going to the Judiciary to lobby to get them released?” the CP stated, represented on the occasion by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Akin Fakorede. Additionally, some have been made public. And once more, it is they who are causing all of this chaos! That is the top item.
