Information surfaced that, not long after the distribution of rice bags and vegetable oil was flagged off, the Secretariat was experiencing a major issue.

As we assembled outside the State Secretariat at 6:00 p.m., the Governor informed the staff that the individual with the least amount of rice would receive at least 10 kg.

In order to mitigate the effects of hunger and the elimination of fuel subsidies, he abandoned the template and ordered that each employee receive the rice and vegetable.

We learned that when Ministries received two cartons of vegetable oil and four sacks of rice apiece, the staff suspected foul play.

The majority of civil servants, particularly middle class officers, did not find this sharing formula acceptable on Wednesday night. As a result, they revolted and tried to steal the palliative supplies. There were reports of physical altercations among certain Ministry of Environment employees. Additionally, some women were observed hauling the rice alongside department heads.

After the Governor left that evening, our roaming reporter noticed that there was confusion everywhere.

It was reported that a hit-and-run car had knocked down a middle-aged woman who had come for the rice and vegetable distribution while she was attempting to cross the street to reach the State Secretariat Complex that evening.

We learned from a trustworthy source that the problem persisted until the early hours of Thursday, March 7, 2024.

But then a good Samaritan arrived, saved the day, and stopped laborers from stealing the grains and vegetable oil that were kept in store within a bus. In a protest against the Head of Service over the sharing formula, the employees nearly went on the rampage.

claiming that he did not follow the governor’s instructions and use the template. The Head of Service’s source revealed that the resentful employees were acting ignorantly.
