Abia starts counting PLWDs in order to reveal a welfare package.
Speaking at the Umuahia capturing exercise, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, the wife of the governor of Abia State, stated that the purpose of the data collection is to obtain precise information about the state’s disabled population while simultaneously developing a better plan specifically for them to ensure that no one in the state is left behind.
Mrs. Otti added, “The capturing is also a way to interact with persons of disabilities in order to know their plight and how the government can solve their problems.” She also gave sacks of rice, groundnut oil, and other food items to around 2,000 PLWDs across the state.
“PLWDs in Abia State are about to experience good things because we will use the data we collect to include them in the federal government’s overall plan.”
Prior to this, Mr. David Anyaele, Special Assistant to the Governor on PLWDs, stated his happiness that the governor’s wife is supporting the suffering of people with disabilities in Abia.
He said, “Mrs. Otti has demonstrated her commitment to include people with disabilities in state governance so they can contribute their fair share, since there is ability in disability.”
According to Mr. Nwaobilo Ananaba, Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Governor Alex Otti’s administration is inclusive and ready to support every Abian.
Speaking on behalf of Mr. James Ajom, Ananaba stated that the state governor supports the data collection efforts, which are intended to help with PLWD planning.
