
Otti names Okwuonu, a former NMA leader, as CMD of Abia Diagnostic Center
The appointment of Dr. Chimezie Okwuonu, the immediate past chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) in Abia State, as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the “newly-retrofitted” Abia Diagnostic Centre/Specialist Hospital in Umuahia has been accepted by Governor Alex Otti.

The appointment was announced in a statement sent by Governor Kazie Uko’s chief press secretary on Monday night.
Dr. Kalu U. Kalu, Executive Secretary, Primary Healthcare; Professor Ijeoma Nduka, CMD, Abia State University Teaching Hospital ABSUTH; and Dr. N.O.E. Kamanu, CMD, General Hospital, Aba are among the other appointments made by the Governor, according to the release.
Agbonma Ukaobasi, Senior Special Adviser, SSA, Ease of Doing Business; and Mrs. Victoria Onwubiko, MD/CEO, Abia State Signage and Advertising Agency, ABSSAA, were also appointed by the Governor. Dr. Odochi Azubuike was named CEO of the Health Management Board.
Dr. Eno J. Eze, Chairman, Civil Service Commission; Engnr. Kachy Etolue, Special Advisor, Energy; Dr. Ngozi Azodoh, Special Advisor, Health; and Mrs. Nkolika Cleopatra Ubani, SSA, Legal are the others. Lydia E. Onuoha is the Chairman of the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB.
The Governor also named Stanley Egege as Chairman of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, whose members are Mrs. Lawrencia Onyemachi, Rose Mbara Nelson, and Uchechukwu Job Iweha. Dr. Okoro Christopher Kalu serves as the Rector of the institution.
Similarly, Professor Solomon Umeham, Dr. Nduka O. Elendu, Professor Mba O. Okoronkwo, and Mazi Obasi Lawson were named members of the board of Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu.
