Pomp and pageantry as Mbaise United of New Jersey celebrates Inauguration, Iri-Ji ceremony 

Excited members of Mbaise United of New Jersey, Inc. (MUNJI), their friends, and well-wishers flocked to Sacred Heart Church Hall at 537 Grove Street in Irvington, New Jersey, USA on September 9, 2023, to honour her Inauguration and participate in the Iri-Ji Mbaise event.

Those who attended the joyous event, including visitors and MUNJI members, felt nothing short of happiness. Angels must have organised the event so that everyone would be calm and happy as beautiful music drifted through the hall and people danced as if they were on cloud nine.

The event began with a prayer and was followed by addresses from the President of MUNJI, Chief Engr Ugochi Ikwu, and the event’s chairman, Chief (Sir) SOS Echendu.

The dishes offered were not only delicious, but also plenty.

It appeared as if angels had been invited to stay and sing hymns of worship to God Almighty in the arena, so enticing and sparkling were the decorations.

Everyone thoroughly loved Lady Ezenwanyi Amadi’s expertly-orchestrated performance with the MUNJI Kids.

During the course of the event, the chapter was formally inaugurated by the President of Mbaise USA with the support of Chief Dr. Charles Iwejuo, the Chairman of the Mbaise USA Board of Delegates.

Two outstanding Mbaise natives were presented with prestigious Leadership Excellence Awards. The Planning Committee Chairman, Chief Uzoma Nwagwu, praised MUNJI President Chief Engr Ugochi Ikwu for his eight years of leadership, saying that the association could be considered one of the fastest growing socio-cultural groups in terms of its increasing numerical strength and scope as he presented the awards to the winners.

Both he and Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, General T.Y. Danjuma, were honoured with the Humanitarian Service Award from the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) on September 8, 2023, at the Nigerian International Conference Centre in Abuja, during a special symposium on International Humanitarian Law and Armed Conflicts: An African Perspective. Uzoma applauded the SOS president for his second term, citing his many accomplishments and contributions to Mbaise’s growth.

Ndi Ezeji, led by Ezeji (Engr) Linus Uzoaru, performed the new yam festival’s customary customs. After the roasted yams were broken up, the traditional rulers present, HRH Ezeri and HRH Eze Elect Iheanacho Mbalewe, took turns blessing the yam barn. visitors of honour and the majority of the visitors willingly launched and picked yam tubers from the barn.

One of New Jersey’s finest disc jockeys, DJ Topez, kept the dance floor packed, and Royal High Chief Mike Mbagwu (Akadike) and Dr. Uche Bonny-Life Ndu kept the party on track.

High Chief (Sir) SOS and Mrs. Ijeoma Echendu, President of MbaiseUSA, along with Engr Paul and Mrs. Chinyere Onuoha, President of Mbaise Family Union (MFU), Chairman of Mbaise USA Board of Trustees, and Ex-MbaiseUSA President, Dr. Sir Law Osondu, Chief Mike and Lolo Promise Unegbu, Attorney Emmanuel and Chief Mrs. Doris Odoemene, High Chief Call Odinma Anedo, the Ijaw Women’s Association, the Mbaise Association of Delaware, and the Orange FC (OFC) all had strong showings.

The MUNJI President and First Lady, Chief Engr Ugochi and Bola Ikwu, the Planning Committee led by Chief Uzoma Nwagwu, and all of the members were praised for their roles in the event’s overwhelming success.
