Along the way, the squad also took ammunition and a few exotic automobiles from the Biafra agitators.
It was learned that Aderemi Adeoye, the Commissioner of Police, had given the order for the operation.
The operation caught the proponents of sit-at-homes off guard, according to a statement sent to media on Tuesday in Awka and signed by PPRO Ikenga Tochukwu.
According to him, a large number of them ran away with bloody trails from bullet wounds.
“The hoodlums had disrupted trading at Achalla Market the previous Monday, ordering traders to sit at home,” the statement reads.
In the early hours of Monday, February 19, 2024, the State Police Command decided to give them a taste of their own medicine because this attracted the attention of the Security Apparatus in the State.
The command stated that the materials discovered included five exotic cars that had been previously taken at gunpoint, over 300 rounds of ammunition for machine guns, and 34 rounds of 7.62mm ammo for Ak-47 rifles.
Ikenga went on to say that hospitals and clinics will be included in the quest for the group’s fugitives.
In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police had ordered that the owners of the recovered cars be called and asked to come forward with identification in order to pick up their cars.
