The traditional ruler of Omor community in Ayamelum Local Government Area, Igwe Chris Chidume, has suggested reformation of the administrative structure of the country in such a way that states will be allowed to manage their resources.
To effectively manage the prevalent security challenges in Nigeria, Igwe Chidume equally recommended to the federal government to decentralize the Nigeria Police to allow each state police itself.
Igwe Chidume, who made the recommendations at his 2023 Ofala festival, explained that granting autonomy and implementing state police will help secure resources and foster state development, thereby contributing to the overall progress and prosperity of the nation.
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his strides in education, adding that members of his cabinet have taken proactive measures to ensure that every child in Omor community benefits from the free education policy of the Soludo administration.
Igwe Chidume called on the state government to remember the area in the ongoing road construction projects in the state, adding that the people of Ayamelum will become completely cut off if nothing is urgently done in the next rainy season, and expressed worry over the deplorable condition of Nsugbe-Otuocha-Omor-Adani Federal High way.
Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr Don Onyenji, who was among dignitaries that attended the event that featured conferment of chieftaincy titles on some deserving individuals, said the state government is committed to promoting Igbo language and culture.
