In a lawsuit filed in a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer for Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Independent People of Biafra, has sued Mr. Vincent Dike, the President-General of the Oraifite Improvement Union in the Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, alleging N50 billion in damages for defamation.
Ejiofor hauled Dike to court in the petition, number CV/1224/24, that the South-East PUNCH reporter saw on Tuesday in an attempt to sue him for numerous defamatory statements made against him.

Remember when on February 4, 2024, Dike, in his role as President-General, addressed the Oraifite community, including the king, during a news conference? During that speech, he made several statements and accusations against Ejiofor.
Ejiofor claimed that Dike made several “false, defamatory, and highly injurious” remarks about him during the press conference. He claimed that these remarks were widely read by his friends, clients, acquaintances, family members, religious leaders, and colleagues in his line of work.
Ejiofor’s attorneys served Dike with a letter requesting the prompt retraction of these offensive articles via his known phone number and Whatsapp, as per the complaint. Dike properly acknowledged receipt of the letter by Nnamdi Kanu Attorney .
He claimed that despite Dike’s knowledge that the publications he made about him were false in every way and extremely defamatory, he has refused, ignored, and declined to take down the offensive material. For this reason, he is determined to fight the infractions in front of a court with the necessary jurisdiction.
In addition to other pertinent relief, Ejiofor stated that he is requesting the following: “that the court directs Mr. Vincent Dike, to publish a full retraction of the utterly defamatory publication, in at least three national dailies/newspapers with nationwide and global circulation; an order directing Vincent Dike to publish an express, unambiguous and unqualified apology to Ejiofor in at least three national dailies/newspapers with nationwide and global circulation; an order directing Vincent Dike to forthwith publish a written undertaking not to publish any similar or further libel of and concerning Ejiofor.”
A compensation payment in the amount of ₦50,000,0000,000, as general damages Ejiofor experienced on account of the defamatory publications, and an additional payment of ₦100,000,000, being the suit’s cost, are among the other reliefs that are being requested.
