In Anambra, a truck strikes pedestrians, killing one and injuring two.
An articulated truck collided with pedestrians near the Onitsha-Asaba bridgehead, resulting in the death of an unidentified girl and the injuries of two other people.

It was learned that the accident occurred on Thursday and that brake failure was the reason behind it.
As the driver was driving down the River Niger bridge on his way to Asaba, an eyewitness said that the brakes failed. He then lost control of the car and collided with pedestrians at the side of the road.
In a statement, C. A. Iyiegbuniwe, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ Staff Officer for Public Education in Anambra, verified the collision.
“The crash occurred today, April 4, 2024, at about 3:20 p.m. along Onitsha-Asaba Bridgehead,” stated Iyiegbuniwe.
“A Mercedes Benz articulated car with the registration number NKE25LG was involved. It was white and green in color.
“The car struck individuals after its brakes failed. One woman lost her life and two others were hurt.
“FRSC men arrived at the scene and transported the deceased to Toronto Mortuary and the two injured to Toronto Hospital, Onitsha.”
Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Sector Commander RS5.3 Awka, was cited by Iyiegbuniwe as expressing sympathy to the victims’ families.
He was also cited as counseling drivers to maintain their cars on a regular basis and follow traffic laws.
