Enugu university Bans Indecent dressing, Introduces students dress code

Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu has made it illegal for students and staff to dress inappropriately. They also have a new dress code so that students and staff can be easily recognised.

Christian Anieke, who is the vice-chancellor of the university, said this on Tuesday when staff and students came back from the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Aneke says that all students should wear their school uniforms with ties and shoes that match.

“No student should wear slippers, rough jeans, dyed hair, long fingers, fez hats, or fake eyelashes,” he said.

Mr. Anieke said it was sad that most students and staff wore T-shirts with unapproved writing on them, which was against the school’s dress code. He also told male students to comb their hair or shave it.

The vice-chancellor said that all teaching and non-teaching staff at the university would be evaluated on their quality of work.

“From now on, the principal officers of the institutions will visit the lecture halls to evaluate the academic staff’s lectures, while the non-teaching staff will turn in their roll calls at the start and end of each day’s activities,” Mr. Anieke said. “Students who don’t show up to lectures won’t be able to take exams.”

He said that the 14th matriculation of the school would be on January 27 and that female matriculants would not be allowed to wear shoes that were more than four centimetres high. Men must wear suits with matching ties.
