Enugu government promises quick action following attack by deadly herdsmen
The recent attack at the Ugwuijoro Nimbo community, located in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, has been denounced by the state’s governor, Peter Mbah.

According to locals who spoke with our correspondent, herdsmen attacked mourners at the Ugwuijoro Nimbo community, instantly murdering four persons.
The community has organized search teams because there are currently so many unaccounted for deaths, despite reports from certain members that four corpses have been found.
The governor called the attack “malicious and unacceptable to us as a state” and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to “identify, track, capture the culprits and bring them to justice” during his visit to the neighborhood on Monday.

The governor, under the handle @PNMbah on X.com, tweeted a number of times late on Monday. Among them were the following: “I was at Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani, Enugu State, earlier today following the attack that claimed four lives.”
This heinous deed makes me very sad. As a state, we find it malicious and unacceptable, and we will stop at nothing to find, apprehend, and prosecute anyone responsible.
As a government, our main goal is to ensure Ndi Enugu’s welfare and security, and we must succeed in this. Our people shouldn’t have to live in constant terror. Consequently, we shall persist in utilizing all our resources to guarantee their safety.
Mbah stated that he has taken heed of the people’s requests and their insistence on having representation in his government.
The governor said that the state government would provide for the needs of the impacted families and that the victims’ children and relatives would be given work opportunities and scholarships.
“To my dear people of the Nimbo, I deeply empathise with you,” was what he tweeted. I have taken note of your requests and proposals, which include bolstering local security resources and ensuring representation in government. We’ll take care of these as agreed.
“I promise that we won’t leave you behind. The relatives of the attack victims as well as the surviving will receive assistance from our government. We will provide scholarships to the victims’ offspring and work possibilities to relatives who are in need of employment.
Above all, please convey that this will never have to happen to us again. It’s enough.
