Enugu trade show to prioritize showcasing Nigerian-made goods — ECCIMA
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday to announce the 35th Enugu International Trade Fair alongside ECCIMA council members, Jideonwo explained that the country’s single foreign exchange earner, oil, was the cause of its foreign exchange deficit, which had resulted in the current economic difficulties.
“Our country’s economy has to be more diversified in order to meet its current economic problems, which are a result of the declining earnings from oil, our main source of foreign cash.
Therefore, it is imperative that we promote Nigerian-made goods on the international market in order to draw in foreign investment, boost non-oil product exports, and eventually close the foreign exchange deficit.
“Until we restore the glory and value of the Naira as well as our national economy, the most important song to be signing right now is local production and promotion of our locally made goods,” he said.
The ECCIMA president said that registration will be available for the event, which takes place this year from April 5 to April 15.
He also said that a number of large corporations who had ceased participating in the expo were being brought back because of the complex’s inadequate exhibiting facilities.
These businesses have made the decision to support ECCIMA in its endeavor to build the Enugu International Trade Fair through a PPP agreement. Additionally, the majority of them have shown interest in having a permanent location where they may build their permanent display halls and booths.
Jideonwo expressed optimism that the 35th Enugu International Trade Fair will be effectively hosted in spite of the present economic difficulties.
