COMMENTARY ON THE PHILOSOPHY OF: IGBO THINK-HOME INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT LTD
(Think Home Policy Initiative)
Igbo Think-Home Investment and Development LTD also known as “Think-Home Policy Initiative”, is a renewed investment delivery policy with a strategy for promoting quality developmental projects in Igbo- land in response to making investments competitive and attractive. It is a developmental strategy in Igbo-land without border to states, religious or partisan political affiliation. It is also a commitment to transforming Igbo-land into a Tourism Nation, Dubai of Africa and the Global Investment Hub.
Think Home Policy Initiative is one of the programs agenda for the actualisation of Igbo mandate, initiated by the Igbo Elders Council to develop Igbo-land beyond post-industrial and post-tertiary levels, with a great potential to create wealth and creating jobs in Igbo land. It is yet on the outcome of the advice preached and handed down to Igbos, and still part of heeding to and imbibing of the advise implicit by the Igbo Elders Council.
Think-Home Policy Initiative is also initiated to immortalize the indelible achievements of our departed Heroes and Heroines, who fought for the welfare and wellness of Igbos. It is part and parcel of talking- the- talk.
In 1991, the late Okwadike Ndigbo Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife. captioned his inaugural speech as Executive Governor of Anambra State, as THINK HOME. Later, public commentators added the word ‘Philosophy’ to the phrase and it became popularized as “Think Home Philosophy.
It is a corporate entity, duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Abuja, Nigeria and empowered by the Federal Government of Nigeria for attracting investors from all races and ethic groups, but particularly from Igbo land, and promotion of good societal values and right ideals in Igbo land.
As the name implies, Think-Home Policy Initiative is a strategy action, the ideas, the philosophies and advice handed down to Igbos by our departed heroes, heroines and Igbo Elders Council. It is therefore Business strategy, a plan of action designed to achieve the long term and / or overall aim to develop coherent economic programmes, projects, investments, and to develop towns and villages, to site factories, industries and create employment ventures for our kith and kin. We are committed to amplifying the urgent plan of some of our compatriots to invest in Igbo land.
Igbos are unique specie that derives pleasure in developing other places to the detriment of their home base. This worry-some trend must stop. Igbos must listen to the cries of many an Igbo visionary leader to Think-Home, Invest-Home and Develop Igbo-land. This filling of outside with the sand dug from inside the house must stop.
OUR VISION: To have an Igbo-land that is the best developed (in terms of critical infrastructure) region of all other regions in Nigeria and of all other countries in the developed world.
OUR MISSION: To harness both public and private sector contribution towards developing Igbo- land to compare to any country or region in the world through;
- Public enlightenment, advocacy, workshops, seminars and symposia.
- Attracting investors of critical infrastructure, and developing industrial and real estate parks in the region.
- Collaborating with other patriotic individuals and groups of Igbo origin to develop the Igbo-land.
OUR MANDATE:
- To strive to the cultural, social, physical and infrastructural development of Igbo-land comparable to any region in the world.
- Liaise with various governments, professionals and technological groups within and outside Igbo-land in all critical infrastructures, including Real Estates for development of Igbo-land.
- To attract foreign and local investors and finances to actualize our vision and mission.
THINK-HOME SUSTAINABILITY: Think-Home Policy Initiative – as an organization – aims to convince the governments of Igbo-speaking states to key into the Think-Home Policy Initiative by formulating policies that would encourage Igbos to bring back their investments to Igbo-land. The foreseen policies include, but not limited to the following:
- Provision of lands to serious and genuine investors at highly subsidized rates or on customary grant/law.
- Policies that would ensure ease of doing business.
- Infrastructural development and power supply.
These policies, when put into place, would foster private sector investment which is the key to economic and technological development and job creation.
THINK- HOME SECURITY: As the issue of security is always very vital to economic development and its sustainability, therefore, Think-Home Policy Initiative advocates for State Police, and Indigenous Security as complimentary and will also not relent in its
effort at ensuring that policies and strategies that would enhance security are put in place so that lives and properties of the people are guaranteed for sustainable economic development.
Governors of Igbo speaking states are hereby enjoined to assist Igbos to achieve this renewed consciousness to develop Igbo land by providing critical infrastructure – roads, cargo airports, sea ports, power and enabling environment, such as; in the process of land acquisition and ease of doing business.
The Igbo Progressive Professionals, Igbo Great Achievers and the Major Stakeholders are making many visible and practical efforts to develop their home. Groups are springing up with serious and sincere efforts to come back home. Infrastructures are also springing up in the south-east, and good road networks are very imperative for this renaissance, revitalization and consciousness to come home.
