
Anambra police detain four people they believe to be the community leader’s murders.
Four suspects have been taken into custody in relation to the assassination of Chief Silas Onyima, the President-General of the Umuoji community in the Idemili North Local Government Area, according to confirmation from the Anambra State Police Command.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, the culprits were captured by police detectives collaborating with Umuoji vigilantes.
Last Friday, when some intruders broke into his house, the dead was killed there.
After giving him many matchet cuts, it was said that the thugs shot him directly in the bathroom as he was having a bath.
According to Ikenga, the suspects also had the deceased’s phone and ATM card retrieved. They also confessed to having four more accomplices, all of whom the police are currently looking for.
“Police detectives from Anambra State Command, collaborating with Umuoji Vigilante, have captured the suspected assassins of the town’s President-General, who was killed in his residence over the weekend,” the statement said.
Thus far, four individuals have been apprehended. They were found to be in possession of the deceased’s phone and ATM card. They confessed and revealed four more accomplices, all of whom the police are currently looking for.
When word of the murder emerged, CP Aderemi Adeoye, the Commissioner of Police, who was in Ibadan for the formal opening ceremony of the 14th Biennial Police Games, hurried back home to organize the police effort to solve the crime.
“The State Criminal inquiry Department has been instructed to send its forensic team to the incident scene and assume control of the inquiry by the CP, who praised the Police in Ogidi and Umuoji Vigilante for cooperating to capture the alleged offenders.
“He has ordered the State CID Homicide Team to capture the remaining four accomplices and determine the reason behind the horrific crime.”
He continued by saying that the state’s presidents-general have received assurances from the commissioner of police that the police prioritize their safety because they are the representatives of their people in town union administration.
