Anambra 2025: 300 APGA members leave for LP, and Ozigbo promises to unseat Soludo.

Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate for governor in the 2021 Anambra State governorship election, has pledged to remove Prof. Chukwuma Soludo in the state’s 2025 governorship election.

Anambra 2025

Ozigbo, who is currently a candidate for the Anambra governorship in 2025, made this indication when he welcomed over 300 decampees from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and other parties into the Labour Party, LP, along with House of Representatives member Afam Ogene, who represents the Ogbaru federal constituency in the national assembly.

In the most recent Anambra State House of Assembly elections, Hon. Pius Ndubuisi Igwilo, the APGA candidate for the Ogbaru 1 state Constituency, led the decampees, who were primarily members of the APGA in the Ogbaru Local Government Area, into the Labour Party.

They were also received by Prince Emeka Nwosu, the chairman of the Labour Party in Ogbaru Local Government Area, as well as a number of other prominent members of the LP in local government, such as Bewin Ezenwammadu, the LP candidate in the most recent state assembly election for Ogbaru 1 State Constituency, and Okey Ejidike, the director general of the organization supporting Senator Tony Nwoye in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Former ward chairs, local government chairmen, female leaders, and important Ogbaru Local Government Area stakeholders were among the evacuees.

At the Holiday Resort field in Onitsha, Ozigbo welcomed the decampees and expressed optimism that the pace at which members of other political parties in the state were switching to the LP would ensure the party’s victories in upcoming local, state, and federal elections.

He urged the newcomers to join the Labour Party, which he referred to as a “moving train,” by persuading members of other political parties in their respective wards. This would enable them to become “fishers of men.”

“I am happy to witness what is going on here today,” he remarked. You’ve made a wise choice that will guarantee that LP produces the upcoming governor of Anambra. Ndi Anambra responded to my question by saying that the governor is not performing well. Thus, we are stating at this time that he has to leave Government House by 2025.

The time for Governor Chukwuma Soludo is ended. He has let Ndi Anambra down, hence he is not eligible to run for office again for another term. The Labour Party now has the opportunity to seize control.

“I believe the Anambra people will get rid of him and install the Labour Party in 2025, with me serving as the Chief Shepherd to maximize the state’s potential,” the speaker said. “He has failed in his responsibilities to live up to the expectations.”

Ogene, who is the chairman of the Labour Party national assembly caucus and the chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Renewable Energy, also received the decampees and informed them that they had no choice but to join the Labour Party because Governor Soludo’s APGA had let Ndi Anambra down with his leadership policies, particularly his failure to hold local government elections as he had promised during his campaign.

It’s not just about building roads, Ogene stated. Even a layperson can build a road, but a governor’s capacity to resolve conflicts, provide sufficient security, and run the state’s affairs is what really counts when it comes to governance.

“The LP door is always open; there is no division in LP regardless of your geographic location—North, West, East, or South. Entering a good place is a fantastic thing, but you have to get there on time. You have come to fortify the party, and we will cooperate to seize control of Anambra in 2025.

Speaking as well, Prince Igwilo, the former APGA leader who led the defectors, said that they had left the party in order to ensure that Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the state governor, would not be re-elected to a second term in office.

In addition, Igwilo claimed that Soludo had not performed well during the previous two years of his administration and swore that they would ensure Soludo would not win a second term.

“I was formerly in the APGA, but currently in the Labour Party,” Igwilo declared. The decampees followed me into the LP. As you can see, the LP is the party of the people, and the majority of its elected members also lean left, therefore we made the decision to quit APGA and join it.

What concrete initiative is he offering us? It is absurd that a politician who made empty promises during an election should be given another chance. He told us that he would hold local government elections after two years as governor, but this will take place after three. He has failed to fulfill this promise and is now seeking another term.

Nothing concrete is occurring in Anambra, thus I believe it’s time for Ndi Anambra to try another party and see what they can accomplish. If elections are held, the chairman of the local government can build the roads he is building.

A governor coming to dig a well and advertising it everywhere is not an accomplishment; I, too, am capable of digging a borehole for the people. These are actions that anyone can do. Well, have a look at the type of road he gave us at Ochanja. The first rain partially washed it away, so who knows what will happen when the rainy season officially begins? Let’s hope the roads hold up.

“I have high expectations since we joined the Labour Party. Elected officials from the party are performing incredibly well; those in the Assembly gave up their six-month salaries to serve the people, and LP officials nationwide are performing exceptionally well.”

The decampee leader gave the LP party members 200 bags of 10 kg of rice in addition to an Okpoko ward office.
