Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu State, has said that over the next year, his administration intends to construct twenty thousand new homes equipped with modern amenities for state employees.
The governor made the announcement after Dachung Bagos, chairman of the House Ad-hoc Committee on Non-Remittance to the National Housing Fund (NHF) and Utilisation of the Funds, praised Mbah for his work to bring the state government up to speed on compliance and remittance to the NHF.
Yesterday, when hosting members of the committee at the Government House in Enugu for a formal reception, the governor emphasised his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of state employees through initiatives like the 20,000-unit mass housing project currently in the works.

Mbah remarked that the state has been instrumental in the country’s development and growth, and that under his administration, the state would continue to fulfil its financial obligations to ensure the people’s welfare.
He declared, “We will not only return the 2.5% to the NHF, but we will also engage the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria for mass housing.
We plan to build 20,000 apartments or houses for our staff, therefore we’ve set aside a sizable plot of land for that purpose.
