Oxford University Appoints Nigerian As First Igbo Lecturer

As part of his campaign pledge to advance the culture and language of those from Southeast Nigeria, this would be the first time the Igbo language will be taught at the university.

The first Igbo language lecturer at Oxford University is Emmanuel Ikechukwu Umeonyihirioha from Nigeria.

On Thursday, the young man announced the news on his Twitter account.

He claims that the Igbo language would now be taught at the university for the first time because he pledged to support the Southeast Nigerian region’s culture and language.

It is official that I am the first official Igbo Language lecturer at the top university in the world, the University of Oxford, the author of the tweet states.

Today, Marion Sadoux, Head of Modern Language Programs at the University of Oxford Language Centre, gave us an introduction
