Senator Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, has given Chief Charles Orie, the managing director of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, instructions to seize and properly inventory all government cars that were previously allotted to political appointees.

The instruction has an impact on a number of people, including commissioners, special advisers, general managers of government agencies, and previous key officers to the governor.
The instruction was sent to South-East on Tuesday and was included in a press statement that was signed by Oguwuike Nwachukwu, the governor’s chief press secretary.
Orie was also encouraged to make sure that no former political appointee—regardless of position—would balk at turning in their official car.
Remember that Governor Uzodimma ordered the commissioners to turn in their official vehicles to the Permanent Secretaries in their ministries and the Special Advisers to turn in their official vehicles to the Office of the Chief of Staff on January 16, the day he dissolved his expanded Executive Council.
According to the statement, while some former political appointees followed the instruction, others had not, which led to suspicions that they were acting with undisclosed agendas.
The statement went on, saying, “Uzodimma mandated Orie to use all lawful means to extract compliance from the former appointees, positioned to ensure that government directives are respected by all and sundry.”
