Super Eagles ex-defender Mike Oyemachara dies mysteriously in Lagos home

A former Super Eagles defender, Mike Onyemachara, has died.

Oyemachara, a member of the 1989 Flying Eagles team that won silver medal in Saudi Arabia, is said to have died on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

He was said to be in good health when his wife left for work and his children left for school, only to return and find that the food served to him on the table had not been touched, and he was dead.

While the circumstances surrounding his death were still unknown as of press time, it is believed that the ace footballer died in his three-bedroom apartment in Ajegunle, Lagos.

However, some of his teammates who were close to him reported that he had recently complained of back pains.

Oyemachara was a skilled defender who spent the majority of his club football career with First Bank of Lagos and was a key member of the Saudi 89 Flying Eagles team.
