ALEX OTTI SAYS HE WILL GO AFTER IKPEAZU RESULTING FROM AN ALLEGED LOOTED AIRPORT PROJECT

The leader of the state’s most recent administration, Okezie Ikpeazu, has been given instructions by Abia State Governor Alex Otti to get ready to return funds that have been embezzled, including those allotted for the airport project.

OTTI

Otti stated that his administration is not at odds with anybody and is only attempting to recover embezzled funds in an effort to maintain good governance in response to the results of the forensic audit of the state’s finances.

The governor spoke at Nvosi during a visit of solidarity by supporters and friends of Rowland Chinwendu, the legislator for the Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency.

He emphasized that his goal is for Abia State to grow and prosper and that the project monies must be returned because the airport was not finished.

Otti conveyed his dismay at the comments made by some people in the media about him after he disclosed the findings of the forensic audit report.

The governor saw hope for the future in the presence of Chinwendu and his friends.

“As soon as I took office, I set up a forensic examination of our accounts. The result revealed that a significant amount of money had been blatantly stolen and robbed, including the N10 billion Abia Airport Project.

They began making fun of me. You would be aware that everything I stated is accurate if you kept up with what was reported in the media.

We’re trying to find our money. They would have to return our money if we couldn’t locate the airport.

“They should return the money they took, and let’s utilize it to work for our people. We are not chasing anyone.

“Our location needs to grow. We’ll keep constructing roads, maintaining environmental cleanliness, and generating employment.

In his speech, Chinwendu, the Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency representative, said that his people had asked him to address the House on their behalf.

He emphasized that he could not afford to be seen as being against the governor because the governor is from the same LGA.

The lawmaker thanked the governor for his ongoing work in his district, which included restoring the Umuikaa-Umuene road.
