Nigerian headline inflation rises to 25.70%

In August, the inflation rate in Nigeria increased to 25.80 percent from 24.08 percent in July.

Friday, the National Bureau of Statistics released its most recent Consumer Price Index Report for August 2023.

The headline inflation rate for August 2023 is 1.72 percent higher than it was in July 2023.

The headline inflation rate in September 2022 was 5.27 percentage points higher than the rate recorded in August 2022, which was 20.52%.

Accordingly, the number indicated that the headline inflation rate (year-over-year) rose in August 2023 compared to the same month the year prior (i.e., August 2022).
