
The Imo State Government has taken a proactive step towards enhancing education by embarking on the construction of new primary schools in all 305 electoral wards within the state. Additionally, they are also focusing on the development of laboratories and libraries in every secondary school across the state. This initiative aims to provide students with better educational facilities and resources, fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth.
During the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Governor Sen. Hope Uzodimma shared that the project aims to strengthen the government’s ongoing efforts to improve education standards in the state.
Furthermore, in reaffirming his dedication to supporting the educational aspirations of young individuals in our state, Uzodinma emphasised that his administration will now provide immediate employment opportunities to graduates from any of the tertiary institutions within our state who excel with a first-class honours degree.

Additionally, the individual expresses that the recipients have the option to choose an alternative path, which involves the chance to pursue a postgraduate programme at a higher educational institution of their choosing within the country, with the support of government sponsorship.
According to Governor Uzodimma, it is imperative for individuals in positions of authority within Imo State to place a high value on education and allocate resources towards its development.
He expressed, “This is the reason why, in my role as the Governor of Imo State, I have successfully established the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Additionally, I have facilitated the recovery of K. O. Mbadiwe University Ogboko, which has contributed to Imo State being one of the few states that funds three universities, a polytechnic, and a college of education. This accomplishment is certainly commendable and not an easy feat.”
He expressed, “The Government has proposed to build standardised laboratories and libraries in all Imo Secondary Schools. This initiative aims to improve the quality of education and ensure a conducive environment for teaching and learning for our children.”
The Governor of Imo State has encouraged the communities to take responsibility for protecting the facilities once they are completed. Additionally, the Governor has shared that preparations have been made to revive the State’s Scholarship Board. This will allow the board to fulfil its important role of assisting financially disadvantaged and talented students in accessing high-quality education within the State.
The individual expressed their heartfelt congratulations to Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education on the momentous occasion of its 60th anniversary celebration. Furthermore, they reassured the institution of their unwavering commitment to supporting its ongoing progress and advancement.
During her address, Dr. Stella Ngozi Lemechi, the Provost of the Institution, expressed her appreciation for Governor Uzodimma’s significant involvement in the institution. She mentioned that his dedication and support made him deserving of the prestigious Diamond Award.
The user expressed gratitude towards the Governor for the successful retrieval of the college’s lands and property that were previously seized by the previous administration in the state. Additionally, the user appreciates the Governor’s decision to select a lecturer from the institution as his running mate for the upcoming 2023 governorship election, which is set to take place on November 11, 2023.
