Nnamani resigns from PDP

Former Enugu State governor and senator representing Enugu East, Chimaroke Nnamani, has formally withdrawn his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hours after losing his senatorial seat.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja, Nnamani expressed appreciation to his constituents for their unalloyed support over the years.

The senator, who earlier accepted defeat, said he had consulted with his associates and constituents and decided to quit the PDP due what he called irreconcilable differences with the national leadership of the party.

The PDP had expelled Nnamani for alleged anti-party activities and said the party had withdrawn from contesting the Enugu East Senatorial District election.

Nnamani said he has moved on and hoped that his modest contributions to the development of his constituency would be the building blocks which his successors could build on.

The outgoing senator thanked Nigerians, especially the Ebeano political family, urging them to remain steadfast in the years ahead.

He reaffirmed his acquaintance with President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and promised to continue to partner with him.

Nnamani expressed optimism that a Tinubu administration would promote good governance, rule of law and human rights for the interest of all Nigerians.
