FG says the 378MW Imo power project is close to completion.
With 70% of the 378.3 megawatt Egbema Power Plant in Imo State finished, the Federal Government has pledged to expedite its completion.

During an inspection visit to the power plant over the weekend, the minister of electricity, Adebayo Adelabu, provided the assurance and praised the governor of Imo, Hope Uzodinma, for his commitment to working with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company to finish the state’s power projects.
The minister, accompanied by Mr. Chiedu Ugbo, Managing Director of the NDPHC, commended President Bola Tinubu for signing the 2023 Electricity Act, which permits states to take part in the electricity sector.
According to Adelabu, the completion of the Egbema power plant and related transmission projects will enhance Imo State’s and the region’s electricity supplies.
In his speech, Uzodinma promised to work with the NDPHC to see that the facility is completed in order to enhance the State’s electrical supply.
According to him, the partnership would guarantee the completion of the 330/33KV switchyard, the Omoku-Egbema-Owerri-Alaoji 330KV DC transmission lines projects, and the Owerri transmission substation extension project in addition to the 378.3MW Egbema Power Plant.
The power plant is 70% complete, while the other projects are in different phases of development. Through the completion of the Egbema Power Plant and related transmission infrastructure, the partnership between the Imo State Government and NDPHC aims to enhance electricity supply and energise homes and businesses in Imo State,” said Bolaji Tunji, the spokesperson for Adelabu, in a statement on Sunday.
