
Gunmen killed eight soldiers, police officers, and members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Imo State.
The tragic occurrence that occurred on Tuesday morning in Umualumaku community, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state has caused alarm among the community.
The assailants attacked and set fire to the combined taskforce team, which was in two security trucks.
According to eyewitnesses, none of the security men survived because their operational cars were burned.
According to a security official who spoke on the condition of anonymity, reinforcement teams were rushed to the crime scene with the purpose of arresting the suspects and retrieving the bodies of the slain security personnel.
A community resident who did not want to expose his identity for security reasons said he observed the security agents a few minutes before they were set on fire.
He claimed that the development had thrown the community into disarray.
The Imo state police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, acknowledged the development but requested more time to investigate the horrific tragedy.
