The camp of Alex Otti, would-be governor of Abia State, is not comfortable with the stumbling blocks lining the way of smooth transmission of power in the state in the next two weeks between the Okezie Ikpeazu government of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ex-banker, who won his election on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).

Christian Anokwuru, the leader of Alex Otti’s representatives in the Abia Government’s Handover Committee, raised the alarm in Umuahia on Thursday, when he told reporters that the state government had continued to dull on the submission of the handover document to the team of the incoming governor.
Anokwuru, a Catholic Church priest, also claimed that the government’s own committee appeared to be more concerned with the swearing-in ceremony than with the documents, which could jeopardise the governor-elect’s plans for a smooth transition.

Hear him: “It is expected that the outgoing administration ought to avail the governor-elect with the handover documents early enough to enable him to study the content before May 29.The administration has only a few weeks in office, so by now the handover documents, covering the government’s activities from 2015 to April 2023, ought to have been ready.
“If the government insists that the handover documents would only be made available on May 29, it means the governor-elect has to take another period of time to study them. For us from the governor-elect, we are not getting the maximum cooperation we were promised by the government.”
